I have been putting off purchasing a pair of winter lined bibs for a long time. i finally decided to invest. first thing i have to say is that carhartt sizes run VERY SMALL. i am 5'11" and 175 lbs. my waist size is 34" and the size pants i will purchase is 34x32. i ended up ordering the carhartt size 40x30 bibs and they fit perfect. i went to a store and tried on a pair of 36x30 and i could not get them up around my hips. i then tried on the 38x30 and they fit, but when i bent over, they lacked the room and comfort i was looking for. so i tried on the 40x30 and they had plenty of room when i was bent over and didn't ride up or inhibit my mobility. i have worn these bibs a bunch of times so far while outside snowblowing and shoveling and they kept me plenty warm. i also wore them on a 2 day winter camping trip where i was out in the elements for 2 full days. i was climbing hills that were ice and snow covered. i was on my knees, running chainsaws, climbing and doing all sorts of stuff and my bibs not only kept me warm, but proved to live up to the carhartt durability. they did get wet from the knee down (as any outer layer would) since i was walking through a foot and a half of snow but i found that the lining never stopped keeping me warm. they also dried very easily by the fire. another great thing about them are the pockets. the side pockets are plenty deep and i dont have to worry about my keys or phone falling out of them while i am in the seated position. all in all, i am extremely happy with these bibs.
